About me

Elizaveta Berezina is a PhD Candidate at the Department of History, Central European University. Her research broadens the perspectives on Socialist materiality and connections between materiality, cultural identity, and national cultures. Her current dissertation project is titled Designed in Cities, Crafted in Villages: Soviet Crafts Policy, 1932–1960. In Spring 2022, she is working on a chapter on material cultural diplomacy as a visiting fellow at Leibniz-Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung in Potsdam.

From 2016 to 2018, Elizaveta taught at the School of Cultural Studies, Higher School of Economics (Moscow, Russia). In 2017, she received Best Teachers of HSE University award, which is based on the students' choice. Since September 2021, Elizaveta teaches for the Global History Lab project, which educates students all around the globe about the history of globalisation and establishes an international platform for learning, skill development and students collaboration. She is experienced in teaching students from vulnerable groups and multiple educational backgrounds.

In 2022, she was invited to join the EUA Learning & Teaching Thematic Peer Groups as a student representative of the CEU team. Together with her colleagues from CEU Center for Teaching and Learning and teaching professionals from other European universities, she explores the best practices in creating a quality learning environment by using digital tools.

Elizaveta collaborates with a digital humanities project Ornamika, which develops a database of traditional patterns from different regions of the world. She applied her knowledge in cultural management and cultural heritage studies to build a partnership with museums and cultural organizations which are collecting, displaying and archiving traditional patterns.
